Home >>PHP String Functions >PHP chop() Function
PHP chop() function is used in PHP to remove white spaces and also other specified characters from the given input string. This Chop() function also removes the predefined characters from the given input string. The characters and white spaces are removed from the right end side of the given input string.
Syntax :
string chop($string, $character)
We can pass two parameters under this function. One of those parameter is $string which contains the given input string from which we have to remove the white spaces and the character. The other one is the $character which contains the character which we have to remove from the right side of the given string.
Let’s see how we can remove the white spaces using the chop() function:
<html> <body> <?php $str = "PHPTPOINT\n"; echo $str . "<br>"; echo chop($str,""); echo $str . "<br>"; ?> </body> </html>
Now let’s take another example and see how can we remove any character using the chop() function:
<html> <body> <?php $str = "Php T Point"; echo $str . "<br>"; echo chop($str,"Point"); ?> </body> </html>
<html> <body> <?php $str = "PHPTPOINT\n\n"; $str1= "A\n"; $str2= "B\n"; $str3= "C\n"; $str4= "D"; echo $str; echo $str1; echo $str2; echo $str3; echo $str4."<br>"; echo chop($str); echo chop($str1); echo chop($str2); echo chop($str3); echo chop($str4); ?> </body> </html>
