The recent revelations by Edward Snowden regarding the US PRISM surveillance program have shown how a network of legal entities and a computer system outside a specific jurisdiction is subject to surveillance without the knowledge of those legal entities. At an alarming pace, cyber cases related to interception and snooping are rising. Cyber laws are being changed very regularly to curb such crimes.

Emerging Trends of Cyber Law

Reports reveal that there will be more cyber-attacks in future years. Organizations are also advised to strengthen their data supply chains with improved methods of inspection.

Some of the emerging cyber law trends are described below -

• Many countries are implementing strict regulatory rules to prevent unauthorised access to networks. These activities are declared as criminal acts.
• Mobile business stakeholders will call on the world's governments to improve cyber-legal structures and administrations to control emerging mobile threats and crimes.
• Another upcoming development is the growing awareness of privacy. Vint Cerf, Google's chief internet expert, has said privacy may actually be an anomaly.
• Another big rising trend is cloud computing. With more technical developments, huge quantities of data can flow through the cloud, which is not entirely immune to cyber crime.
• Yet another thing to look out for is the rise of Bitcoins and other digital currencies. Bitcoin crimes in the near future are likely to multiply.
• Another major trend to be followed is the arrival and acceptance of data analytics, which demands that sufficient attention be given to big data issues.

Create Awareness

Though October has been declared as the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month by the U.S. government, India is following the trend of introducing a stringent public awareness scheme.

The general public is partially conscious of the crimes associated with the transfer of virus. They are unaware, however, of the broader picture of the risks that could affect their cyber-lives. For most internet users, there is a massive lack of knowledge about e-commerce and cybercrimes in online banking.

Be patient and follow the following tips when participating in online activities -

• Filter the exposure of social sites for personal information.
• For any email address and passwords, do not keep the "remember password" button active,
• Make sure that your platform for online banking is secure.
• When shopping online, keep a watchful eye.
• Do not save mobile devices with passwords.
• Secure the mobile device and computer login info, etc.

Areas of Development

For the years 2013 and 2014, the "Cyberlaw Trends in India 2013" and "Cyber Law Developments in India in 2014" are two prominent and trustworthy research work related to cyber law supported by Perry4Law Organization (P4LO).

There are some significant issues related to cyber law that merit immediate consideration by the Government of India. The problems were posed by the 2014 Indian cyber law roundup given by P4LO and Cyber Crimes Investigation Centre of India (CCICI).

The responsibility of banks to cyber-theft and cyber-crime will significantly increase in the near future with the creation of cyber-law compulsions. In this regard, Indian banks will have to maintain a dedicated team of cyber law experts or seek help from external experts.

As a result of rising cyber-attacks and cyber-crimes, cyber-insurance transactions should be increased in the Indian insurance sector.

International Network on Cybersecurity

To establish an international cybersecurity network, a conference was held in New Delhi , India, in March 2014.

The goals set out in the Cyberlaw & Cybercrime International Conference are as follows:

• Recognizing the evolving trends in cyber law and cyberspace legislation in the current situation.
• To create better awareness of the battle against the latest types of cybercrimes that affect both digital and mobile network investors.
• Recognize the areas where cyber law needs to be further improved for digital and mobile network stakeholders.
• To work towards the creation of an international cybercrime network. Judicial authorities will then be an influential voice in the further extension of laws on cyber crime and cyber law globally.
